In October 2011, Friends of the Valley Foundation offered to help Steve & Bev at North Star Bowl rebuild.
The Foundation contacted Renee Brown, a 18 year owner at Seasons and currently a homeowner in Wilmington about naming the new community room in honor of her husband, Charlie Brown. Renee & her three girls jumped in with both feet. On December 3 and 4, we held a weekend work party at North Star. The employee’s from C.W. Brown, Inc. and many Valley residents took part and the results were amazing. On December 16, 2011 Friends of the Valley Foundation held their first fundraiser for North Star in Boston.
By New Year’s Eve, the kitchen, dining room and Charlie Brown Community Room were up and running. Friends of the Valley Foundation hosted their second fundraiser on New Year’s Eve at North Star. The turnout was way beyond our expectations.
On Saint Patrick’s Day (Charlie Brown’s Birthday) March 17, 2012 our third fundraiser was held. Renee & her girls organized a great party in Elmsford, New York and thanks to all their efforts put our Foundation in a position to order the new lanes and pinsetters. Currently the new lanes & pinsetters are installed & operating. A new scoring system is on hold and the scoring is being kept the old fashion way, manually until more money is raised.
Friends of the Valley Foundation along with Steve and Bev of Northstar Bowl met with John & Patty from Dot’s Restaurant in the Charlie Brown Community Room at Northstar for the first time this past January. Steve & Bev were eager to do their part to help fellow flood damaged business owners and to show their appreciation for all the help that has been given to them by offering John & Patty to hold a fundraiser at North Star Bowl.
The Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, May 26, 2012 North Star Bowl will be holding it’s Grand Re-Opening and “pay it forward” Fundraiser Party for Dot’s of Wilmington.
Friends of the Valley Foundation wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the hundreds of people who helped put North Star Bowl back together and hope to see you all on the 26th to celebrate.
