The Albert Fusco Grant; (Established 2010)
This grant is founded around Albert’s life. Born December 19, 1922 in Connecticut, the second youngest of 9 children. Lost his father at the age of 4. Raised by his Mother (with the help of his older siblings) Served in WW II, and then formed Fusco Construction in New Haven, CT with his brothers. Fusco Construction built commercial buildings across the State of Connecticut; including Hospitals, Banks, several buildings at Yale University and the Hero’s tunnel on the Merritt Parkway. Married Charlotte after she recovered from tuberculosis had 2 children. Albert lost Charlotte to lung cancer when his children, Geraldine & Tim were 15 & 13. Spent the next part of his life between building his business and raising his children. In October of 1984, he married Barbara Jean.
This grant is given to a person/family in the Valley in a crisis situation. Some year’s one grant is awarded and other years, several are awarded.
This grant has been used for individuals with health issues, loss of employment, damage to property from Hurricane Irene and help with funeral costs.
This grant was created to honor what Albert’s life has stood for; determination, integrity, helping those in need, and always making every second of life count. All three board members’ look at Albert as a father figure and are thankful for his never ending love & support.
The John Reagan Restaurant Award
This award is in memory of John Reagan. John, along with his wife Patty, owned Dot’s Restaurant in downtown Wilmington. John’s entire life revolved around Patty, Dot’s, and the Deerfield Valley.
Each restaurant is asked to nominate an ideal employee who is an exemplary representative of the Deerfield Valley Food & Beverage service industry and the Deerfield Valley Community.
